Jambo!

Jambo!!! I'm back from The Continent. I left Tuesday, got back yesterday morning, hopped on a bus to Bristol, & went straight to the Progress in Medicine Conference being held at my university. The conference ended this afternoon, & then some friends & I had a barbeque on the Downs. I'm now starting to catch up on all my favorite blogs.

So, let's see... updates...

My oldest friend, Heather, who I've known since age 6, happens to be in the UK & is coming to Bristol tomorrow evening. I haven't seen her in about three years, so it will be nice to catch up. We'll be going out for my friend Katie's birthday, including popping in at a secret bar. We're quite different people now (different from each other, I mean--as well as different from who we were at age 6, haha), & I hope that fact doesn't hinder our interaction. My fingers are crossed for a good time.

One of my best friends, Rachel, got engaged yesterday! I found out this morning, & got a Skype call from her & her fiance (whoa, weird) just a few minutes after finding out. I'm really happy & excited for both of them! And I can't wait to hear all about (& maybe input in) the wedding plans. Hrm, but even when talking rings, etc with her, it never occurred to me that it would be weird to think of her as engaged. But yeah, seeing on her Facebook profile "Engaged to..." instead of "In a relationship with..." is a bit strange. In a good way though :.)

My trip to Kenya was so good, & I miss it already. Stories & photos will come soon.

Currently reading Memoirs of a Geisha. If you haven't read it, I highly highly recommend it!!! The narrator (the person the memoirs are about, true story) has an amazing way with words. I'm such a fan of it, & I'm so thankful for the recommendation I got from Isabel (Jonty's sister).

My Couch-to-5k progess is at a standstill. A few days before leaving for Kenya, I starting feeling a bit unwell. Then, on Easter, I couldn't even finish my run because my stomach hurt so bad I thought I'd throw up. So I took Kenya off. I need to start again, but it's hard to get back into it! Hopefully tomorrow or this weekend I'll be able to restart. I think I'll do Week 6 over and go from there.

It's nice to be back in Bristol. I missed my bed & my room & my friends. Tomorrow will be a schoolwork day. I really hope to get a lot done! I'm so very behind!

I start my new job on Monday, yay.

Oh, & Edinburgh with Katie on Tuesday & Wednesday, yay!

Wow, what a long post, eh? I hope you didn't get bored by this point...

I'm still on Kenya time, mentally, so I really need to hit the hay. Yawn!
